Why UX?
How I made the leap from motion design to UX
UX design has changed how I look at motion design. When animation feels “real,” often it is because the designer has effectively mimicked the physics of the way matter moves in the natural world. I now see that these animation principles can help me design digital interactions that feel more intuitive and “real” to the user. Designed well, these interactions can help users accomplish their goals and maybe even bring them delight.
While working as a motion designer in New York City, I began to look for a bigger challenge. At Anomaly I had the chance to work with the UX team animating mockups of mobile apps they had designed. This experience opened my eyes to a field that I didn’t know existed. And it would challenge me to think creatively, analytically, and empathically.
